About invisible braces

The invisible brace treatment is a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth. The brace is worn for two weeks. You'll always receive an extra pair to take home, which you can change yourself after two weeks. The duration of the treatment depends on your specific needs and will be determined by your practitioner.

What does an invisible brace do?

Invisible braces make your teeth straighter. The treatment is different for everyone. One patient may want to have only the lower or upper teeth straightened, while another wants their entire set of teeth straightened. Invisible braces are also suitable for minor dental corrections. The teeth will therefore be straightened in specific phases. This also makes it less painful than conventional braces.

Dental Center Netherlands (TCN) has dental practices throughout North Holland. Including in Alkmaar, Bergen, Castricum, Haarlem, Heerhugowaard, Westzaan, Zaandam and Beaverwijk.

How much does invisible brace cost?

Invisible braces for children

Orthodontic treatment for children differs from orthodontic treatment for adults in several respects. For instance, children's jaws are still developing, meaning the ideal time to start varies from child to child. The step-by-step plan below provides a clear overview of the entire process.

Step 1: First consultation

We recommend having a doctor check at the age of 9 or 10 to determine the ideal starting point. Our goal is to ensure no child misses the ideal moment to begin orthodontic treatment. During the first consultation, we examine the teeth, jaws, and face. We ask about your expectations and your child's medical history. We then discuss the general possibilities of orthodontic treatment with you. The conclusion of the first consultation may be that treatment is not (yet) beneficial. If treatment is deemed beneficial, a comprehensive examination follows before we place braces.

Step 2: Extensive research

During the first consultation, we already gained an impression of the condition of your child's teeth. However, to know exactly what the possibilities are, extensive examination is necessary. We take various photographs, including X-rays, and make an impression. We then draw up a personalized treatment plan.

Step 3: Discuss treatment plan

Once the treatment plan has been drawn up, we invite you to come and discuss it with us. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment and any potential alternatives. We will also inform you about the costs associated with the treatment. During this meeting, you can present all your questions and wishes to the doctor. Subsequently, we will inform your own dentist about the steps being taken.

Step 4: Treatment of crooked teeth

For children, the first phase often consists of positioning the upper and lower jaws correctly. We do this, for example, by fitting a removable brace, an external brace, or other appliances. Afterward, crooked teeth are straightened. A clear brace pushes or pulls the teeth into the correct position. Regular check-ups are very important in this process. During these check-ups, the brace is adjusted, among other things.

Step 5: Removal of braces and aftercare

When we remove the braces, the teeth and molars will be in the correct position and alignment. To ensure that your teeth and molars do not shift back to their original position over time, you will receive a retainer behind the front upper and lower teeth. Sometimes you will also be given a night retainer. This period after the braces is called the retention period. A number of check-ups take place during this period.

Invisible braces for adults

Nowadays, it is no longer just young people who wear braces. More and more adults are finding their way to the orthodontist. It pays to have your teeth straightened even at a later age, especially if this is done using the latest techniques that are almost invisible.

The treatment process

The treatment process for adults is practically the same as that for children. The difference lies in the fact that adult jaws have fully developed. Therefore, in complex dental situations, different orthodontic solutions must be considered.

Types of braces

While fixed braces (metal brackets) are a popular treatment method for children, some adults find wearing visible, fixed braces bothersome. If these regular metal brackets pose an aesthetic problem, TCN offers invisible braces.

Ceramic brackets

Treatment with ceramic brackets works the same as standard treatment with metal braces. However, the white brackets are made of ceramic, making them almost identical to the natural tooth color and therefore barely visible. Orthocenter practices use the latest and most modern Clarity Advanced ceramic brackets from 3M.

Invisalign

An Invisalign treatment consists of a series of virtually invisible and removable 'aligners' (trays) that you replace with a new set every two weeks. Each aligner is custom-made, specifically for your teeth. Every time you click a new aligner over your teeth, your teeth shift, step by step, week after week, to the desired position prescribed by the doctor.

More information

The treatment depends on what needs to be corrected. This varies from person to person. A minor correction can be completed within 3 months, but a more complex treatment can take up to 20 months. The brace must be worn 22 hours a day and is only removed for eating.

Sometimes it is possible to receive reimbursement for invisible braces. This varies from person to person and depends on the insurance policy you have taken out. It also depends on the type of treatment. Orthodontics is usually not reimbursed, not even for children under the age of 18. However, you can take out supplementary insurance for orthodontics.

Invisible braces are suitable for almost anyone who wants straight teeth.

In case of extreme dental abnormalities, or if the gums are severely inflamed.
